Bengaluru: Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R.Ashoka said on March 20 that the BJP and the JD-S workers will work and face the Lok Sabha election like “brothers”.
Talking on the “confusions” about seat sharing between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S), Ashoka said that the ticket for Kolar Parliamentary seat is yet to be finalised.
“Discussions are still being held if two or three seats should be given to the JD-S. The party’s top leadership is in talks with former CM and JD-S state president, H.D. Kumaraswamy.
“There is no crisis in the alliance. This matter will have a happy ending. There are a few confusions in the beginning,” Ashoka stated.
Talking about the confusion on the Mandya Lok Sabha seat, Ashoka stated, sitting MP Sumalatha Ambareesh had met the top leaders on Tuesday.
“The tickets are issued on the basis of surveys done mainly on the chances of winning. The caste combination factors are also kept in mind. We were called to Delhi for a discussion on tickets. The meetings were held, and the names would be announced in two or three days.”
He further said: “I am also confident that former minister K.S.Eshwarappa who had declared that he would contest as an independent candidate from Shivamogga, will also come to the ‘right path’ in a week. I don’t know about the discussion held between Eshwarappa and B.S. Yediyurappa. Eshwarappa is our senior party member.”
Talking about the unhappiness of former CM D.V.Sadananda Gowda over the denial of a ticket from Bengaluru North, Ashoka said he, along with senior leader Ashwath Narayan, had met him.
“He was confident of getting a ticket from Bengaluru North. Two former chief ministers are being considered for the ticket. He was hopeful that the party would consider him. He still has a chance. We have to wait and see the decision of the central party leadership,” he said.
He also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s image, leadership and programmes, involving everyone would help the BJP.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Bhutan on March 21- 22 has been postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions over Paro airport, the ministry of external affairs said on March.20.
“Due to ongoing inclement weather conditions over Paro airport, it has been mutually decided to postpone the State visit of Prime Minister to Bhutan on 21- 22 March 2024. New dates are being worked out by the two sides through diplomatic channels,” MEA said in a statement.
The Prime Minister was set to go on a two-day visit to Bhutan on March 21. The government had earlier said that the visit was going to focus on regular high-level exchanges between India and Bhutan with emphasis on its Neighbourhood First Policy.
During the visit, PM Modi will meet Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and his predecessor Jigme Singye Wangchuck. Modi will also hold talks with his counterpart Tshering Tobgay.
In his first overseas visit after assuming office in February 2024, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tobgay visited India earlier this month.
Earlier, King of Bhutan, Jigme khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, also paid an official tour to India and visited Assam, New Delhi and Maharashtra in November 2023. The King of Bhutan too had extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi to pay an official visit to Bhutan.
During his visit, the King of Bhutan and PM Modi held discussions on the entire gamut of bilateral cooperation and regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Those who have been externed are Naseeb(40) of Moodbidri, Srinivas H(24) of Katipalla, Safwan(28) of Bajpe, Jayesh alias Sachu(28) of Bondel, Varun Poojary(30) of Neermarga, Azeez(40) of Ashoknagar, Isham(30) of Kavoor, Kartik Shetty(28) of Suratkal Idya, Deekshith Poojary (23) of Kaikamba- Ganeshpura, Lakshmish Ullal (27) of Krishnapura, Kishore Sanil (36) of Bondantila, Hassainar Ali(38) of UIllalkodi, Jaeel(28) of Kudroli, Roshan Kini(18) of Bolur, Ahmed Sinan(21) of Kasba Bengre, Ditesh Kumar(28) of Jeppinamogaru, Guruprasad(38) of Bajal and Sandeep Shetty(37) of Jeppu.
Earlier this month the police had issued externment orders against seven criminals. The Commissioner said 367 people have been made to sign bonds that they will not involve in any unlawful activities.

Udupi: The ‘Horekanike’ procession was held in a grand manner as part of the Re-consecration, Ashtabandha Brahmakalashhotsava of the Malpe Vadabhandeshwar Sri Vadabhanda Balarama temple.
Sri Vidyadisha Sripada of Palimaru Math flagged off the procession at Kodavur Sankara Narayan Temple. The procession started from Kodavur temple and proceeded to Sri Vadabhanda Balarama temple via Citizen Circle.
MLA Yashpal Suvarna launched various tableaus. Purnakumbha, 101 chende, keelu kudure, kombu, vaadya, Kunita Bhajan, Tattiraya, Nasik Band, Yakshagana, various costumes, tableaus added glamor to the procession. More than 70 horekanike vehicles and more than 4 thousand devotees took part in the procession.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took a subtle dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his address at the Startup Mahakumbh event, highlighting the difference between political startups and original startups.
In an indirect attack on the Congress leader, PM Modi said many people try to launch political startups but the difference between them and the original startups is the latter’s thrust for new ideas.
“Many people try to launch startups, especially in politics, some people have to be launched multiple times. The difference between you and them is that you’re experimental. You try new ideas after the failure of one launch,” the prime minister said.
Rahul Gandhi’s recent Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, spanning from Imphal to Mumbai, is perceived as a strategic move to redefine his image as the face of the opposition party ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Rahul Gandhi is set to contest from his current Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency once again.
At the Startup Mahakumbh event, PM Modi expressed his vision of propelling India to become the world’s third-largest economy during his third term, highlighting the pivotal role of startups in driving India’s progress.
“The world sees the capability of Indian youth. Trusting their capabilities, we decided to fuel their aspirations. We have transformed people’s thinking; instead of being a job-seeker, the youth is now keen on becoming a job- provider,” PM Modi said in his address.
Sharing a personal anecdote, he also mentioned the use of artificial intelligence to translate his speeches into regional languages. His address also found mentions of India’s UPI which was widely appreciated by global leaders during the G20 Summit last summer.
