The leaders in the booth were trying to woo the voters at the last moment, the leaders of the other party objected to this and a scuffle ensued. Later, the police intervened and dispersed the activists.

Assembly Speaker U.T Khader, Sitting MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Former Minister B. Ramanatha Rai and KPCC election campaign committee president Vinay Kumar Sorake cast their votes at a polling booth in their respective constituencies.

In a democratic system, the citizens are the rulers and it is the right and duty of the citizens to elect qualified and efficient leaders. Heggade wished that ideal leaders would be elected through voting.

Heggade’s younger brother Harshendra Kumar and Supriya Harshendra Kumar also cast their votes at the polling booth.

The deceased has been identified as Guddu Yadav (29), a native of Uttar Pradesh. Reportedly Yadav was walking on the side of the road when a bike hit him and he fell on the road. A tanker coming from the other direction ran over Yadav and he died on the spot. A case has been registered in this regard.

Of these, 66 people passed away before polling from home began, while 136 individuals missed the opportunity to vote because they were not present when Election officers visited their residences twice.

Additionally, one voter refused to cast vote when election officers and personnel visited the house. In Dakshina Kannada district, a total of 8,010 people, including 6,053 voters above the age of 85 and 1,957 differently-abled individuals, were given the opportunity to vote from their homes. The voting process took place from April 15 to 17. However, only 7,807 voters cast their votes, representing a turnout of 97.47%.

The injured, Edwin Vinay Kumar(65) was running a barber shop. On April 13 around 7 pm, Anand had come to the shop in an inebriated condition. He stabbed Edwin following a petty dispute, police said.

Edwin was taken to Wenlock Hospital for medical treatment. Police reached the crime scene and conducted an inspection.

Police patrols were deployed from Saturday evening onward, with SPG officials from Delhi overseeing Modi’s roadshow route through continuous monitoring via more than 25 CCTV cameras installed along the way.

Building owners have been instructed by police to collect Aadhar card details from individuals occupying their facilities on Sunday to watch the roadshow. Traffic along the roadshow route will be prohibited from Sunday afternoon.

A significant contingent of law enforcement personnel has been assigned to duty along the roadshow route, including ADGP, IGP, five SP/DCP, 10 DySP/ACP, 36 inspectors, 67 PSIs, 147 ASIs, 1207 HC/constables, 92 homeguards, five KSRP platoons, 19 CAR platoons, two CRPF companies, four ASC teams, one BDDS team, 30 DMFD/HHMD units, and 34 sector mobiles.

SPG snipers will maintain vigilant surveillance from high-rise buildings flanking the roadshow route, while high-focus lights capable of illuminating up to 100 meters are deployed to mitigate potential risks.

A tempo vehicle, similar to the one used during Modi’s roadshow in Chennai, has been brought to Mangaluru. A letter requesting permission for candidates Captain Brijesh Chowta, Kota Srinivas Poojary, and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel to accompany PM Modi during the roadshow has been submitted to SPG.

Mangaluru/Udupi: Most parts of the coastal districts received rain on April 13. The city of Mangaluru received a drizzle in the morning. Good rain was observed in Beltangady, Kanyadi, Savanalu, Ujire, Mundaje, Gerukatte, Nidle, Bangadi, Bandaru, Mairoltadka, Kokkada, Madyantharu, Puttur, Uppinangady, Ilanthila, and Subramanya.

In the district of Udupi, Bajagoli, Mala, and Hosmaru received copious amounts of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Heavy rains lashed Hebri also on the evening of Saturday. Koteshwara, Kalavara, Bidkal Katte, Molahalli, Halady, Goliangadi, and Madamakki also experienced a good amount of rain. Udupi city and Manipal received slight drizzles.

Siddapura, Hosangadi, Yedamoge, Hallihole, Ajri, Amparu, Shankaranarayana, Haladi, Goliangadi, Belve, Hengavalli, and Amasebailu areas received heavy rains. Rain lashed for half an hour at Subramanya, Bilinele, Nettana, Kombaru, and surrounding areas. Some parts of Kadaba also received rain.

The road was filled with sludge at Beltangady due to rain as the mud dug for NH widening work was piled on the roadside. Around four km area of the national highway is dug, and motorists had a tough time controlling their vehicles as the road was slippery.

No alerts were declared by the weather department for April 14. On the contrary, moderate rains are expected in some parts of coastal districts.
