Udupi, Oct 23: “More than half of the country’s cases of violence against women are reported from Uttar Pradesh due to male-dominated culture and traditions with an increased number of dowry harassment and domestic violence. Over 250 cases have been registered in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh alone,” said Shyamala S Kundar, member of the National Women’s Commission.
Addressing a press conference at the Circuit House in Bannanje on Friday, Shyamala said, “Delhi secured second place in women’s harassment cases. There are very few cases reported in the Northeast where women have more freedom and have access to a good education.”
