Udupi: A campaign has been launched in Udupi demanding that Narayana Guru be nominated for Mangalore Ladyhill Circle. The Auto Drivers’ Association and the Brewer’s Kudla jointly launched a sticker campaign at the Medicare Auto Station. Kishore Poojary, Chairman of Biruwar Kudla Udupi Unit, Secretary Yogesh and Treasurer Rajesh were run by stickers for autos. B. Shetty, Secretary Vithal Jattan and other officials were involved in the campaign.

Talented athlete Lavina makes it to World Masters Games, seeks financial aid to participate.

Lavina Rodrigues, a talented athlete who won a number of medals in masters games in state and national level is selected to participate in the upcoming World Masters Game – 2021. But constraints have denied her possibilities of participating in the big event which is scheduled to be held at Kansai, Japan from May 14 to 30, 2021.
After considering the performance of the athletes in the recently held 3rd National Masters Games-2020 which was held at Vadodara, the national master’s games federation selection committee finalized Lavina’s name and sent her the confirmation letter and asked to participate in the international event.Lavina has bagged a total of three silver and one gold medals in state level championship. She secured one gold, two silver medals in national level championship. 200m, 400m and 1500m are her favourite sprint events and for the past four years she has been continuously winning medals in these events. She contested in the nation-level competitions paying from her own resources.Lavina requests all generous readers to kindly help to make her dream a reality.She hopes makes it to this mega event and also hoping to go through it with excellence. Mangaluru: Former chairman of Karnataka Bank Ananthakrishna no more

Mangaluru, Oct 11: Former chairman and CEO of Karnataka Bank Ltd Ananthakrishna passed away on Sunday October 11. He was 74.
He worked in different capacities at the operational level as well as management level, and was appointed chairman and CEO in the year 2000. He served in this capacity till 2009, after which he continued as non-executive chairman of the bank. He retired in 2016.He began his career as a teacher at Deepika high school, Modankap, before serving as lecturer at Manipal Institute of Technology. He then joined Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bangaluru as Junior Programmer before joining Karnataka Bank Ltd in 1971.Ananthakrishna also served as honorary secretary of Indian Banks’ Association and president of the
Bankers’ Club, Mangaluru.He was honoured with a number of awards, including ‘PR Person of the Year – 2002’ awarded by Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Mangaluru-Manipal chapter, KK Pai National Banking Award, ‘Outstanding Manager – 2004’ by Mangalore Management Association.
