Mangaluru: Woman commits suicide by jumping into sea

Mangaluru, Oct 30: A 60-year-woman ended her life jumping in the sea on Friday October 30.

The deceased has been identified as Usha. She was a resident of Sankoli.

Her body was found near Uchila seaside. It is said that the woman had unsuccessfully tried to commit suicide twice in the past.

Ullal police arrived at the spot and registered a case.

Bantwal: Police have arrested three accused in connection with the assault on a photographer in Farrangipet. The search for the identity of another accused Sawad continues.

The accused have been identified as Mohammed Arshad (19), Abdul Rehman (22) and Mahmoud Saipuddin (22).

At around 7.45 pm on Wednesday night, a gang of Dinesh Shetty, a resident of Kotinja in Pudu village, was stabbed to death with a knife at his residence in Farangipete, Bantwal.

Dinesh Shetty was in the studio around 7.45 pm on Wednesday night when a gang of four miscreants attacked him. The attack took place after most of the building’s stores were closed.
The gang of four attacked Dinesh Shetty’s head, right hand and left abdomen with a sword. Shekhar Poojary, who was there at the time, had hit the two accused loudly in a chair to avoid being assaulted. This is the injury to the accused’s hands. The accused fled the scene.

The Bantwal Rural Police Station has arrested three accused in the case. A search is under way for another person.

Puttur: KSRTC set to cover every single village

Puttur, Oct 28: Work on developing roads which help connect rural areas of Puttur, Beltangady and Sullia taluks are going on at full scale. Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has undertaken the huge project of starting a second KSRTC unit here. As per this plan, KSRTC buses will cover all the villages in Sullia, Beltangady, and Puttur taluks.

The local MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor has planned to establish a second depot of KSRTC here with the aim of providing connectivity to every village. He has asked the revenue department to sanction 1.5 acres government site within three km from the KSRTC bus stand for this purpose.
