Mangalore, Dec 11: Lawmaker Vedavas Kamat appealed to the government to release maximum compensation for the victims of the Persian boat named ‘Sriraksha’ on their way to fishing.

One of the six fishermen, who was in the house of lawmaker Kamath, who spoke on the incident, said that the boat was sunk by 25 people when 19 people were rescued. He said the search is ongoing.

Amasebailu, Dec.11: A student who was attending the final BCom at Shankara Narayana Government Degree College committed suicide by jumping into a well.

The deceased has been identified as Divya (19), daughter of Rukmini of Amadebailu village Jaddinagadde tomb. Divya went to college on Wednesday and was worried.

Udupi, Dec 11: Human Rights Day is celebrated today around the world with the aim of protecting human rights. The celebration of Human Rights Day should be the work of raising awareness among the masses, said Dr Kapoor, district health and family welfare officer. Sudhir Chandra Suda said.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the World Human Rights Day celebrations held at the Red Cross House in Ajjarakad on Thursday by the Indian Red Cross Organization and Udupi District Unit.

Human rights are essential for a human being to live a comfortable life in society. Human rights aspire to every citizen’s right to live with dignity and respect. G. Shankar Women’s First Class College students and members of the Red Cross Board of Governors were present.

Dr. Reddy, vice president of Red Cross; Ashok Kumar YG welcomed the Hon. The Hon. Aravind Nayak saluted Ammunge.

Udupi, Dec 11: The title launch of Sun Inc.’s ‘Nanaasu’ Kannada movie was held at Press Club, Udupi. The film’s director Niiraj (Dinesh Shriyara), hero MS Vishwanath, heroine Sangeet Mulki and actor Mani Kumar released the title.

The film is currently under construction with newcomers and talented artists. Three-quarters of the shooting has already taken place in Shriyara, Heskatur and Barakur.

Due to Coro being interrupted by the film, the shooting will start again. The shooting will be over by next February and the release date will be decided by completing the remaining work.
