Bangalore : The Department of Public Education has instructed school teachers to observe the Kannada Rajyotsava on Valmiki Jayanti and No.1 on the 31st.

BANGALORE: The Education Department is contemplating opening a school in the wake of the diminishing coronavirus in the state.

The school is scheduled to open in November or December, and officials say it will be open by November 2.

Starting November 17, various colleges, including bachelor’s and master’s, have been set up. There is thought to be the start of the same schools and the opinion will be collected first. It is said that the school will be decided later.

It is said that a video conference will be held on November 2 under the chairmanship of the Commissioner of Education, Anbu Kumar.

Colleges in Karnataka to reopen for classes from November 17

Bengaluru, : Government of Karnataka has decided to reopen the colleges of engineering, diploma, post-graduate and graduation courses, which were closed for many months due to coronavirus pandemic, from November 17.

Speaking to the reporters, higher education minister and DCM Ashwathanarayana said, “After discussion with CM Yediyurappa, the government has decided to start the graduation colleges on November 17. Students are given the option of either attending the classes or studying online. However, if the students want to attend classes in college, they need to bring the permission letter from their parents.

“According to UGC guidelines, there was an opportunity to open colleges offline in November. Task force will be formed under the presidentship of respective deputy commissioners. In addition, task forces will be formed in every school also. On November 17, LMS online portal will also get inaugurated. This system is being implemented for the first time in the country,” he said.

Mangaluru: Failure to pay fees – School removes students from WhatsApp group

Mangaluru, : A private CBSE school in the city here removed students from its WhatsApp group following the non-payment of the fees, the parents alleged.

The teachers used to share notes, tips and study material on the WhatsApp knowledge group. However, several students were abruptly removed on October 15 which has stirred the parents who have written to the central and state governments seeking action, a report by TOI stated.

Bengaluru: Child right commission recommends resuming classes, exam-free year

Bengaluru, Oct 10: Karnataka State Child Rights Protection Commission has recommended to the government to take a decision to open schools, declare 2020-21 as exam-free year, and mandatorily provide high quality face masks to all the children.
“In the light of the COVID situation, classes should be handled in a good way, keeping in mind health requirements of the children. During the exam-free year, the state education research and training department should prepare the class-wise learning routine for different classes. Initially, higher or lower primary government schools with less than 30 children should be opened. For the initial two weeks, they should function half a day. Schools with higher student strength should be run on a shift system,” it has recommended.The commissioner has expressed the apprehension that if no decision is taken to reopen the schools, the evils of child marriage, child labour system, and child trafficking may crop up. It said that the schools should arrange for preliminary meetings with parents and school development and monitoring committees.

Opening schools last thing on government’s mind’ – Minister Suresh Kumar.
Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister, S. Suresh Kumar, said that stating that opening schools is the last thing on his mind as he considers himself more of a guardian of children who are studying in schools across the state.Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and Medical Education Minister K. Sudhakar have clarified time and again publicly that there is no plan to open schools. Such being the case, I appeal to the people not to spread misleading rumours on this issue.Moreover, decisions like opening schools under such circumstances cannot be taken secretly or in a hurried manner. This decision is going to affect more than a crore children. Therefore, do not spread rumours,” he appealed.

The final semester exams of the postgraduate and UG classes of the Mangalore University, postponed due to the heavy rain.

The Mangalore VV Chancellor Prof. P. S Yadapadittaya said the test was postponed due to rain and the replacement date would be announced in the next few days.
