Moodbidri: Teacher suffering from COVID 19 – Government to bear treatment cost

Moodbidri, Oct 15: The state government has come forward to meet the treatment expenses of a lady teacher from here, Padmakshi, whose family has already spent nearly seven lac rupees for her treatment expenses. The private hospital at Mangaluru where she is undergoing treatment has been advised to provide her the best treatment.

Padmakshi’s daughter and engineering student, Aishwarya, had pleaded for financial help from Good Samaritans as the family was finding it very hard to meet the mounting treatment expenses as Padmakshi was in the intensive care unit since September 29. Padmakshi’s husband, Shashikanth, also was infected and was treated.

Chief minister B S Yediyurappa, and education minister S Suresh Kumar, who noticed newspaper reports about the situation, came forward to help the family. Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian, immediately after learning about the situation, contacted the office of the deputy commissioner and the district health officer, requesting them to extend help. Aishwarya has thanked the government, chief minister, education minister, Moodbidri MLA and district administration for the help.

Opening schools last thing on government’s mind’ – Minister Suresh Kumar.
Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister, S. Suresh Kumar, said that stating that opening schools is the last thing on his mind as he considers himself more of a guardian of children who are studying in schools across the state.Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and Medical Education Minister K. Sudhakar have clarified time and again publicly that there is no plan to open schools. Such being the case, I appeal to the people not to spread misleading rumours on this issue.Moreover, decisions like opening schools under such circumstances cannot be taken secretly or in a hurried manner. This decision is going to affect more than a crore children. Therefore, do not spread rumours,” he appealed.
