Subrahmanya: Sri Sri Vidya Prasanna Theertha Sripada cast his vote for this year’s Lok Sabha elections at booth number 115 of Kukke Subramanya S.S.P.U College on April 26.

Speaking to the media after casting his vote, he said that India is a democratic country and if it is to be meaningful, then all citizens have to exercise their power and therefore, voting is one of the most important aspects and A law should be enacted making voting compulsory.

He expressed his opinion that maximum voting should be done and everyone should vote compulsorily.

New Delhi: The nomination process for the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections to be held on May 13 began on Thursday.

A notification to this effect was issued by the Election Commission on behalf of the President on Thursday. As many as 96 constituencies across nine states and the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir will go to polls in the fourth phase. All constituencies of Andhra Pradesh (25) and Telangana (17) will go to polls in this phase.

Polling will also be held in various constituencies of Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir. In Andhra Pradesh, assembly polls will be held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha elections on May 13.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 11 said that despite decades of Congress’ “Gareebi Hatao” campaign, it was Modi’s government that lifted 25 crore Indians out of poverty.

He said that while Congress neglected the farmers, the BJP is working to make them prosperous.

“The Lok Sabha election of 2024 is an election to provide new energy to the Vikshit Bharat campaign. In the last 10 years, the BJP has brought solutions to those problems that the Congress had given up. Congress gave the slogan ‘Gareebi Hatao’ for decades but Modi brought 25 crore Indians out of poverty. Congress left farmers alone, but the BJP government is working to make farmers prosperous. Today, 10 crore farmers are receiving Kisan Samman Nidhi,” the PM said while addressing a public meeting in Rajasthan’s Karauli. PM Modi expressed confidence in BJP’s victory in Rajasthan.
