Mangaluru: Multiplexes ready for reopening, single screens may take a while! 

Mangaluru, Oct 15: Some screens at the Big Cinemas at Bharath Mall Bejai, and the Cinepolis in City Centre Mall in the city will reopen on Thursday October 15. They will exhibit the movies, screening of which had suddenly been suspended in March initially. PVR cinemas at the Forum Fiza Mall will take some days to reopen. No official announcement has been made about the Inox Manipal. Bharath Cinema at Manipal will reopen on Thursday.

The multiplexes have taken all safety measures and arrangements to attract audiences. Social distancing will be scrupulously followed, and seats have been rearranged. Online booking has begun.City theatres like Jyothi, Ramakanthi, Roopavani, Suchitra, Prabhath, Nataraj theatre Suratkal, Amarashree at Moodbidri, Aruna at Puttur, Santhosh at Sullia, Bharath at Beltangady, as well as Alankar, Kalpana, Ashirwad, Diana, Vinayaka, Radhika, and Planet in Udupi district have prepared for shows but they have not announced the dates.

The third District Religious Council of the Dakshina Kannada District, held at 4.00 pm on 13.10.2020, was convened by the Deputy Collector, sixth member of the Dakshina Kannada District. Surya Pakodi and Suryanarayana Bhatt were present. In the wake of Kovid-19, the District Religious Council decided to issue a conditional clearance only to allow a maximum of 10 tiger costumes to spread within the prescribed time frame in the temple premises during the upcoming Dasara festival. It is the responsibility of the concerned temple administrators to maintain a social gap and ensure that the sanitizer is used by all. In the event of any violation of the guidelines and an unpleasant incident, the rulers of the temple would be prosecuted, and the meeting decided to ban tiger masquerades from performing in the temple and in public areas.

Mysuru, Oct 13 : *Admitting that Covid pandemic was still rampant in Karnataka, state Health Minister K. Sudhakar on Monday said only 300 guests would be allowed to watch the 10-day Dasara festival on October 26 in the royal palace grounds here* .

“As Covid spread is still rampant in the state, the Dasara fest will be celebrated in a simple manner this time, with 300 people allowed to witness the royal parade on its 10th day (Vijayadashmi) to mark the victory of triumph over evil in the Amba Vilas palace grounds,” Sudhakar told reporters here.Mysuru’s deputy commissioner Rohini Sindhuri and state health department additional chief secretary Javed Akhtar participated in the review meeting.

Bengaluru: Rain fury back in state – Yellow alert sounded in coastal region

Rains are back in the state. Most parts of the state received rains since the afternoon of Saturday, October 10.
In Bengaluru areas like Jayanagar,Basavanagudi, Electronic City, Majestic, Malleshwaram,
Rajajinagar, Banashankari and Padmanabhanagar received heavy downpour and roads got converted into mini ponds.Coastal regions of Mangaluru, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts also received rain with thunder on the evening and night of Saturday. Most regions of Malnad also received rains. Rains are going to lash the state for the next three days. A yellow alert is declared in the coastal region of Karnataka and district administration is instructed to take precautionary measures in case of floods.

Bengaluru: Child right commission recommends resuming classes, exam-free year

Bengaluru, Oct 10: Karnataka State Child Rights Protection Commission has recommended to the government to take a decision to open schools, declare 2020-21 as exam-free year, and mandatorily provide high quality face masks to all the children.
“In the light of the COVID situation, classes should be handled in a good way, keeping in mind health requirements of the children. During the exam-free year, the state education research and training department should prepare the class-wise learning routine for different classes. Initially, higher or lower primary government schools with less than 30 children should be opened. For the initial two weeks, they should function half a day.
